Thirty-One

Love these jammies. They're getting short, but I still love them. And I love the smile on the boy wearing them. His color is coming back and he's feeling much better!

Twenty-Nine

Ryan helped put snaps on Chelsea's new duvet cover. Okay, he put them all on. This mama couldn't figure it out! It reminds me of when my grandpa used to help Grandma with sewing projects. I remember him getting down on the floor with us as we cut batting to go inside of a quilt. That day was just a reminder of what a great man he was and I remember thinking I would be lucky to meet such a great man someday. Well lucky me not only did I meet one, I married him!

Mom & Dad headed to KC for the Sharing the Journey Conference. While there, I met Maria, founder of Specs for Us. We love Chelsea's Specs 4 Us as they are specifically made to fit her face. Her tiny nose, with no bridge & little ears that don't hold the arms of glasses well. Unfortunately her first pair of these glasses were buried in the gravel at school :(. The 2nd pair were fed to the dog and are pretty mangled up now. I showed these glasses to Maria & she told me they were still under warranty & she replaced them on the spot! She even had a pair on hand that her daughter prefers to wear with her hearing aids! So now we just need to replace the lenses!

Twenty-Five

The most graceful girl in her gymnastics class! (Can you sense my sarcasm?). Ha! But she loves it, and in her mind she's doing everything just as they showed her!

Finally starting to feel a little better, but he still has a fever. I came home from work today to find him coughing uncontrollably, so we headed back to the Dr. She gave him an antibiotic for a red & inflamed ear, and an inhaler & prednisone for his cough. We have managed to stay inhaler free for more than 2 years, but this virus has brought back his nagging asthmatic cough. One dose of the prednisone worked wonders & allowed him to sleep all night!

Day four of the flu, two hours post ibuprofen. Surely it will break soon. Logan will miss his field trip tomorrow, family reading night, and the book fair. Fortunately he has had a few moments of clarity. The fever will come down just enough that he can wrestle the dog, dump out all the Legos, or yell at his sister. Then with the blink of an eye he's curled up under a blanket, half asleep, shaking like a leaf.

The boy is still sick, sick, sick. A sick boy does not make a hungry boy either. Now we try our hardest to maintain, but he's losing weight he can't afford to lose. The boy and the girl now officially weigh the same. This is a problem.

I send her to the babysitter's and the sitter puts her to work. What a helper!

We had to quarantine Logan today - he's definitely got the flu. He has hardly been sick the past couple of years - since we started eating clean. Today he told me, "I feel like I've never been this sick in my whole life."

He also fell asleep playing the Wii! I was putting laundry away and when I came back he was curled up asleep with the nunchuck still in his hand.

So that's day 2 of the flu, hope it doesn't last too much longer!

Sick. Cough, sore throat & fever makes for a very grumpy kiddo.

Free basketball hoop? Yes please! Ironically the boys found it on their way to shoot hoops at the school!

Morning "to-do's" for a big seven year old!

Sixteen

Today was a good day. Chelsea was up four times last night. Logan threw a massive temper tantrum over his cup of water when he woke up. The car wouldn't start, and we were late for school. Then, Ryan passed his nursing boards! He is officially an RN.

Oh, and K'cie is back in town. Chelsea had a great time with her this afternoon.

Fifteen

Enough said.

Oh how I missed making her birthday outfit last year. Creativity is hard to come by in an apartment though. This will be her first gift Thursday morning. Lets just hope she's not sick this year!

Silly dog has scratched her face up! Wondering if she'll ever learn to stop holding his toys on top of her head. It's always funny, til he nails her in the face :/

The problem with Lego creations? Once you make them, you play with them. If you play with them, they break. Pretty horrifying for nine year old boys that put a lot of heart and soul into the project.

One

Happy New Year! It was a slow moving day, we were trying to relax as today is our last day of winter break. In all my years of teaching I don't ever remember going back to school on January 2. But, it is what it is and we have no control over the calendar so I figure why stress about it?!

Dad was at work today so I was out numbered. So much for a relaxing end to our break. Chelsea locked the dog in our bedroom while I was washing dishes and sure enough, he peed - right in the middle of the bedroom underneath our king sized bed! Since I'm no spring chicken, my sweet boy wiggled himself under the bed and cleaned up for me. Chelsea was sent to her room - where she managed to create artwork with a red sharpie. Her canvases included a cabbage patch doll, plastic baggies, and the message board that hangs on her door. While Chelsea was up to no good, Logan re-focused on his Star Wars Lego creation. By about 5:00 though I heard screaming from his room. One would think there was a hurt child in the house but it was just Logan. He had hit his frustration point. Instead of taking a break, he kept going back to it, working so hard through all the tears. I finally decided we needed to get out of the house, so we walked to the grocery store.

After dinner, Chelsea and I got our showers out of the way. She of course finished before me and hopped out, dried off and got her pj's on by herself. When I finished I came out to check on her only to find she had finished off the 1/2 full bottle of apple juice in the fridge! When I asked her about it she showed me she had hidden her cup behind the couch. At least she used a cup!

So our night ended with this little foot licker. No shame this one.

And even with all of the chaos we managed to fit in a romp in the snow, a couple of rounds of Just Dance 3, UNO, and even Finding Nemo. I'm guessing 2013 won't be any less exciting than 2012!

Happy New Year!
